The historical roots of Bedrock Vineyard run deep into California's colorful past, tracing back to 1851 when Civil War Generals William Tecumseh Sherman and Joseph Hooker purchased the land. While they did not strike literal gold on the property, the true treasure lay in the iron-rich, gravelly clay loam soils of the Sonoma Valley. Bedrock Wine Co. pays homage to this heritage with wines that capture the essence of these historic soils. Typically crafted from ancient, head-trained Zinfandel vines, often co-fermented with traditional field-blend companions like Carignan, Mourvèdre (Mataro), and Alicante Bouschet, this style of red wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak barrels. The result is a beautifully structured, complex Zinfandel that balances rich, dark brambly fruit with vibrant acidity, cracked black pepper, and a distinct mineral undertone reflecting its historic terroir.
