Pioneered by the historic Beringer estate—which has been crafting wine since 1876—this proprietary blend is named after the gravelly, well-drained alluvial soils of the valley floor. These ancient volcanic and riverbed deposits force the vines to dig deep for water, resulting in small, highly concentrated berries.
