Beringer's Bancroft Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is a profound expression of the Howell Mountain AVA, where rugged high-elevation terrain meets Napa Valley winemaking history. Situated at approximately 1,800 feet above sea level, well above the valley's morning fog line, the Bancroft Ranch vineyard is characterized by its volcanic, white tufa soils. These well-drained, nutrient-poor soils force the vines to struggle, resulting in small, intensely concentrated berries with thick skins. First planted in the late 1970s, this vineyard has long been a crown jewel in Beringer's single-vineyard portfolio. The wine is typically crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged extensively in French oak barrels. It delivers a powerful profile marked by dense black fruit, graphite, crushed rock minerality, and the robust, muscular tannins characteristic of Howell Mountain.
