Beringer, established in 1876 by brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer, stands as Napa Valley's oldest continuously operating winery. Their Fumé Blanc is a tribute to the historic California style of Sauvignon Blanc, a term famously coined in the late 1960s to denote a dry, sometimes oak-influenced expression of the grape. Crafted primarily from Sauvignon Blanc, Beringer’s rendition beautifully balances the grape's natural, vibrant acidity with a rounder texture. This is achieved through a thoughtful combination of cool stainless steel fermentation to preserve bright citrus, melon, and stone fruit aromas, alongside partial aging in seasoned French oak barrels. The result is an expressive white wine that captures the generous California sunshine while paying homage to traditional winemaking heritage.
