Weingut Bernhart's Schweigen Tonmergel Weissburgunder is a masterful expression of the unique borderlands of the southern Pfalz, where German winemaking precision meets the rich, geological heritage of Alsace. The name 'Tonmergel' refers directly to the heavy clay marl soils of the Schweigener vineyards, which impart a distinctive power, deep texture, and cool minerality to the Pinot Blanc grapes. Historically, these vineyards have straddled the French-German border, a legacy of shifting national lines that today grants the estate a fascinating cross-border terroir. Crafted with minimal intervention, the wine undergoes gentle pressing and is typically matured in a combination of stainless steel and traditional large oak casks. This dual aging approach preserves the vibrant, crisp orchard fruit aromas of the Weissburgunder while developing a subtle, creamy texture and a long, saline finish that speaks directly to its ancient, mineral-rich soils.

Weingut Bernhart ligger i Schweigen-Rechtenbach ved Pfalz' sydligste spids klos op ad den franske grænse.
