✨ wine.spec_sheet

La Cote aux Enfants is a legendary still red wine (Coteaux Champenois) from Champagne Bollinger, crafted from a single, iconic parcel in Ay. This steep, south-facing vineyard is so dramatically inclined that, according to local lore, only children were nimble enough to work the vines in the 19th century, giving the site its name. Jacques Bollinger painstakingly reconstituted this prestigious four-hectare vineyard in the early 20th century. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, the wine is vinified in the traditional Burgundian style and aged in small oak casks. It represents the pinnacle of still red winemaking in Champagne, offering a rich, powerful expression of Pinot Noir with intense red fruit, spices, and a structured, velvety texture that showcases the unique terroir of Ay.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1829 in the historic village of Aÿ by Jacques Bollinger, Paul Renaudin, and Hennequin de Villermont, Champagne Bollinger is one of the region's most prestigious and fiercely independent family-owned houses. Renowned for its Pinot Noir-dominated blends and traditional production methods, Bollinger uniquely ferments its vintage wines in seasoned oak casks and maintains an extensive library of reserve wines aged in magnums under cork. The house's signature style is defined by its rich complexity, structure, and depth, best exemplified by legendary cuvées like Special Cuvée, La Grande Année, and the late-disgorged R.D. Additionally, Bollinger preserves a rare piece of viticultural history with its ungrafted, pre-phylloxera Pinot Noir vines used to produce the ultra-exclusive Vieilles Vignes Françaises.
