Named in honor of the year the historic estate was established, the Boschendal 1685 Chenin Blanc is a masterful expression of South Africa's signature white grape. Sourced from selected vineyards across the Coastal Region, this wine benefits from diverse soil profiles, including decomposed granite and clay, which impart both mineral tension and rich fruit concentration. To craft its signature texture, a portion of the juice undergoes fermentation and aging in French oak barrels, while the remainder is kept in stainless steel to preserve the grape's natural, vibrant acidity. Extended lees contact adds a luxurious, creamy mouthfeel, beautifully balancing notes of ripe peach, tropical fruit, and subtle spice. This wine pays homage to centuries of Cape winemaking tradition, bridging Old World structure with New World fruit intensity.

Boschendal blev grundlagt i 1685 af den franske huguenot Jean le Long og er en af Sydafrikas ældste og mest prestigefyldte vingårde. Ejendommen ligger smukt placeret mellem Franschhoek og Stellenbosch med de dramatiske bjerge Groot Drakenstein og Simonsberg i baggrunden. Vingården er dybt forankret i den traditionelle hollandske Cape Dutch-arkitektur og arbejder kompromisløst med regenerativt landbrug, biodiversitet og bæredygtig vindyrkning på tværs af et væld af forskellige jordbundstyper og mikroklimaer. Boschendal er berømt for sine banebrydende Méthode Cap Classique-mousserende vine samt den anmelderroste 1685-serie. Huset mestrer alt fra sprøde Sauvignon Blanc-vine og komplekse, lagdelte Chardonnay-fortolkninger til elegante, strukturerede rødvine på Shiraz og Cabernet-blends.
