Named in honor of the year the historic Boschendal estate was founded, the 1685 Sauvignon Blanc Grande Cuvee represents a masterclass in Coastal Region cool-climate sourcing. Sourced from exceptional vineyard sites across the Western Cape—where maritime breezes from the Atlantic and Indian Oceans temper the warm African sun—this wine captures the vibrant, expressive essence of South African Sauvignon Blanc. The winemaking team utilizes gentle pressing and cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by an extended period of lees contact. This technique imparts a rich, creamy texture and complexity that beautifully balances the grape's natural, zesty acidity. The result is a sophisticated white wine that weaves together bright tropical fruit notes with refined herbaceous undertones, standing as a testament to over three centuries of winemaking heritage.

Boschendal blev grundlagt i 1685 af den franske huguenot Jean le Long og er en af Sydafrikas ældste og mest prestigefyldte vingårde. Ejendommen ligger smukt placeret mellem Franschhoek og Stellenbosch med de dramatiske bjerge Groot Drakenstein og Simonsberg i baggrunden. Vingården er dybt forankret i den traditionelle hollandske Cape Dutch-arkitektur og arbejder kompromisløst med regenerativt landbrug, biodiversitet og bæredygtig vindyrkning på tværs af et væld af forskellige jordbundstyper og mikroklimaer.
