The Boschendal Appellation Series Sauvignon Blanc is a precise, cool-climate expression sourced from the pristine, high-altitude vineyards of the Cape South Coast, particularly the cool Elgin valley. While Boschendal's historic estate in Franschhoek dates back to 1685, this contemporary series represents a quest to capture the ultimate expression of specific South African terroirs. The maritime-influenced climate of the Cape South Coast, characterized by cold winters, ocean breezes, and morning mists, allows for a slow, gentle ripening process. This preserves the grape's natural acidity and intensifies its aromatic profile. In the cellar, minimal intervention and careful lees contact are employed to enhance the wine's textured mouthfeel and mineral complexity, resulting in a sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc that balances vibrant green fruit with a flinty, saline finish.

Boschendal blev grundlagt i 1685 af huguenot-tilflytteren Jean le Long og siden videreudviklet af De Villiers-familien, hvilket gør ejendommen til en af Sydafrikas ældste vingårde. Vingården har rødder i Groot Drakenstein-dalen mellem Franschhoek og Stellenbosch, hvor vinmarkerne strækker sig over terrasser af granit, sandsten og alluviale aflejringer i læ af bjergkæderne Simonsberg og Drakenstein. De dramatiske topografiske forhold skaber et middelhavspræget makroklima med kølige bjergluftstrømme, tørre somre og rigelig vinternedbør, hvilket giver vinene en levende, naturlig syre. Dyrkningen hviler på et strengt miljøansvar i egenskab af WWF Conservation Champion og certificeret Integrated Production of Wine (IPW)-producent. Husets vinfremstilling sætter fokus på renhed, terroirets gennemslagskraft og en harmonisk tekstur, uanset om vinene modner på ståltanke eller franske egetræsfade. Boschendal er særligt berømmet for sine skelsættende Cap Classique-mousserende vine, herunder Jean Le Long Prestige Cuvée, samt fremragende hvidvine som 1685 Chenin Blanc, Appellation Series Chardonnay, det hvide blend Suzanne og den botrytiserede Vin D'Or Noble Late Harvest.
