Boschendal's winemaking heritage dates back to 1685, when French Huguenot Jean le Long was granted land in the Groot Drakenstein Valley. This historical French connection laid the foundation for the estate's mastery of Méthode Cap Classique (MCC)—South Africa’s prestigious bottle-fermented sparkling wine category. The Cap Classique Brut Rosé is crafted in the traditional method, undergoing a secondary fermentation in the bottle to produce its fine, persistent mousse. Sourced from cool-climate vineyards across the Western Cape, the grapes benefit from maritime breezes and ancient, well-drained soils that preserve the bright natural acidity essential for premium sparkling wine. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes lees aging to develop complexity, resulting in a pale salmon-pink hue, delicate red berry aromas, and a creamy, refined texture that beautifully bridges historic European tradition and vibrant South African terroir.

Established in 1685 by Huguenot settler Jean le Long and developed by the De Villiers family, Boschendal is one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa. Anchored in the Groot Drakenstein Valley between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, the estate's vineyards span granite, sandstone, and alluvial terraces sheltered by the Simonsberg and Drakenstein mountain ranges. This dramatic topographical setting yields a Mediterranean macroclimate defined by cool mountain breezes, dry summers, and generous winter rainfall, delivering vibrant natural acidity.
