Hailing from Gisborne, affectionately known as the 'Chardonnay Capital of New Zealand' and the first wine region in the world to see the sunrise each day, Brancott Estate Reserve Chardonnay celebrates a rich regional heritage. Brancott Estate, a pioneer that helped put New Zealand wine on the global map, sources fruit from Gisborne's warm, sun-drenched coastal vineyards characterized by fertile clay and silt soils. This terroir coaxes luscious stone fruit, ripe peach, and melon characters from the grapes. To build complexity, the wine undergoes traditional barrel fermentation in French oak casks combined with partial malolactic fermentation and regular lees stirring. This meticulous process imparts a creamy, textured mouthfeel and subtle toasted brioche notes, beautifully balancing the vibrant tropical fruit profile that defines Gisborne's signature style.

Brancott Estate blev grundlagt i 1973 af Frank Yukich under Montana Wines og indtager en helt særlig plads i historien som pioneren bag kommerciel vinavl i Marlborough. Stik imod datidens udbredte opfattelse af, at Sydøen var alt for kold til druedyrkning, plantede Yukich de første vinstokke i Brancott Valley. I 1975 fulgte de Sauvignon Blanc-stiklinger, som med den skelsættende debutårgang i 1979 for alvor antændte New Zealands moderne vineventyr. Markerne breder sig over alluviale aflejringer af grus, silt og stenede terrasser, der køles af Stillehavets maritime vinde. Her udnytter vinhuset de markante temperaturforskelle mellem nat og dag til at bevare en spændstig, naturlig syre og fremhæve druernes intense aromaprofil. Dyrkningen følger de strenge retningslinjer fra Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, suppleret af certificerede økologiske parceller. Vinifikationen er centreret omkring temperaturstyret gæring i rustfri ståltanke med millimeterpræcision, suppleret med fadgæring til husets mere prestigefyldte cuvéer. Blandt de toneangivende vine finder man den sortsprægede Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, Letter Series 'B'- og 'R'-aftapningerne med deres elegante fadstruktur samt enkeltmark-ikonet Chosen Rows.
