While Brokenwood is deeply rooted in the Hunter Valley, their pursuit of exceptional cool-climate fruit led them to the Indigo Vineyard, nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Victorian Alps near Beechworth, Victoria. Established in the late 1990s, this vineyard is celebrated for its granitic gravel and clay soils, which impart a distinct mineral signature. The Indigo Vineyard Chardonnay represents a beautiful marriage of Brokenwood's meticulous winemaking and Beechworth's unique high-altitude terroir. Typically fermented in French oak puncheons and barriques using indigenous yeasts, the wine undergoes regular lees stirring to develop a rich, textured palate that perfectly balances vibrant stone fruit characters with a flinty, crisp acidity.
