Brokenwood's exploration outside of the Hunter Valley led them to the picturesque, cool-climate region of Beechworth in Victoria, specifically to the Indigo Vineyard. Established in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, this vineyard sits on ancient decomposed granite and gravelly clay loams. The Indigo Vineyard Shiraz showcases a distinct contrast to Brokenwood's Hunter Valley reds, offering a more structural, savory, and spice-driven profile. Hand-harvested grapes are typically fermented in open-top fermenters with a portion of whole bunches to enhance aromatic complexity, followed by maturation in French oak puncheons and barriques. The wine tells a story of regional diversity, marrying Brokenwood's elegant winemaking philosophy with the rugged, mineral-rich terroir of Victoria's high country.

Brokenwood Wines blev grundlagt i 1970 af Sydney-advokaterne James Halliday, John Beeston og Tony Albert på en fire hektar stor parcel i Pokolbin, som oprindeligt var tiltænkt en cricketbane. Vinhuset ligger i det sydlige Hunter Valley op mod Brokenback-bjergkæden, hvor terroiret er præget af alluviale lerjorde og tung lerjord under indflydelse af et varmt, subtropisk klima med kølende havbriser. Selvom ejendommen historisk set har haft sit anker i den berømte Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, har Brokenwood opnået mindst lige så stor international anerkendelse for sine rene og bemærkelsesværdigt lagringsdygtige hvidvine. Markerne dyrkes efter certificerede principper under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, og i kælderen videreføres arbejdet i dag af chefvinmager Stuart Hordern efter Iain Riggs' skelsættende æra. Blandt husets ikoniske benchmarks er den fadløse ILR Reserve Semillon, som er berømt for sin stringente energi, lave alkohol, sprøde citrussyre og komplekse ristede toastnoter opnået gennem flaskemodning, foruden enkeltmarksvine som Stanleigh Park Vineyard Semillon og mineralske cool-climate chardonnayer fra Beechworth og Orange.
