Brokenwood's exploration outside of the Hunter Valley led them to the picturesque, cool-climate region of Beechworth in Victoria, specifically to the Indigo Vineyard. Established in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, this vineyard sits on ancient decomposed granite and gravelly clay loams. The Indigo Vineyard Shiraz showcases a distinct contrast to Brokenwood's Hunter Valley reds, offering a more structural, savory, and spice-driven profile. Hand-harvested grapes are typically fermented in open-top fermenters with a portion of whole bunches to enhance aromatic complexity, followed by maturation in French oak puncheons and barriques.
