Brokenwood's Vegas Block Shiraz is a distinctive single-vineyard expression that captures the unique terroir of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. The Vegas Block, named with a nod to the lively spirit of its founders, features mature vines planted on the region's classic clay loam soils. This terroir imparts a signature savory complexity and elegant structure to the wine. Crafted with Brokenwood's hallmark minimal-intervention philosophy, the grapes are gently fermented in open-top vessels before aging in premium French oak barrels. The result is a medium-bodied Shiraz that eschews heavy oak in favor of bright red and dark berry fruits, earthy undertones, white pepper spice, and fine-grained tannins, reflecting the historic, subtle style of traditional Hunter Valley reds.

Brokenwood Wines blev grundlagt i 1970 af Sydney-advokaterne Tony Albert og John Beeston samt den anerkendte vinkritiker James Halliday, og det hele startede på en beskeden parcel på 10 acres i Pokolbin i New South Wales' Hunter Valley. Gennem årtier har vingården under ledelse af den erfarne direktør og chefvinmager Iain Riggs udviklet sig fra et passioneret weekendprojekt til en af Australiens mest prestigefyldte og toneangivende producenter. Brokenwood arbejder ud fra en filosofi om præcis, minimalistisk vinfremstilling, hvor terroiret og den rene druesortskarakter får lov til at skinne igennem – både i frugten fra egne marker i Hunter Valley og i nøje udvalgte parceller fra andre dele af Australien. Huset har opnået international anerkendelse for især sine sprøde, lagringsværdige Semillon-vine fra Hunter Valley og flagskibet Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, side om side med populære hverdagsklassikere som den ikoniske Cricket Pitch-serie.
