Buller's Fine Old Tokay, now widely known as Topaque, represents a pinnacle of Australian fortified winemaking from the historic Rutherglen region in Victoria. Crafted from Muscadelle grapes that are left on the vine to shrivel and concentrate their natural sugars, this luscious wine undergoes a meticulous solera aging process in large, old oak casks. The hot summer days and cool nights of Rutherglen allow the fruit to develop extraordinary richness. Through decades of fractional blending, the wine develops its signature amber-brown hue and an incredibly complex profile of cold tea, malt, butterscotch, and dried fruits, carrying the liquid heritage of the Buller family's century-old cellars.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1921 by Reginald Langdon Buller, Buller Wines is a historic Australian winery located in the Rutherglen and Swan Hill regions of Victoria. Over a century of winemaking has cemented their reputation, particularly for world-class fortified wines like their Fine Old Muscat and Tokay, which are aged in historic solera systems. The estate expanded in 1951 with the establishment of the Beverford winery, allowing them to produce a diverse portfolio of premium still wines, including robust Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and elegant Chardonnay. Today, Buller Wines continues to honor its heritage by blending traditional basket-pressing and open-fermenter techniques with modern innovation to showcase the unique terroir of Victoria.
