Campo Viejo, founded in 1959 by José Ortigüela, stands as a beacon of Rioja's winemaking evolution. Nestled in the heart of Rioja, the winery is celebrated for its state-of-the-art, eco-friendly underground facility that respects the rolling landscape. This Reserva is a masterful expression of the region's traditional blend, dominated by Tempranillo with supporting roles played by Graciano and Mazuelo. Cultivated in diverse clay-limestone soils across Rioja, the grapes undergo a meticulous aging process that defines the Reserva classification: 18 months in selected American and French oak casks followed by an additional 18 months of bottle aging. This creates a harmonious balance between vibrant red fruit characters of cherry and plum, and the elegant, warm complexity of vanilla, cloves, and toasted wood.
