Crafted using the same secret manuscript of 130 botanicals gifted to the order in 1605, this exceptional liqueur undergoes a significantly prolonged maturation in selected oak casks. This extended aging process beautifully tames the intense 54% ABV of the traditional Green Chartreuse, transforming its fiery herbal punch into an incredibly complex, silky, and harmonious elixir. It reveals layers of fresh mint, pine, anise, citrus peel, and warm baking spices, all wrapped in a subtle oak sweetness. Tracing its origins to 1605 when the Carthusian monks received a mysterious manuscript detailing an 'Elixir of Long Life,' Chartreuse is one of the world's most iconic and secretive spirit producers. Perfected in 1737 at the Grande Chartreuse monastery near Grenoble, France, the sacred recipe remains strictly guarded by just two monks who oversee the selection, maceration, and distillation of 130 natural mountain herbs, plants, and flowers.
