This exceptional cuvée represents a historic partnership established in 2013, wherein Château de Marsannay assumed sole stewardship of the legendary vineyards belonging to the Hospices de Dijon. Dating back to the 1200s, the Hospices de Dijon accumulated precious parcels through centuries of donations from pious benefactors. Among these, the 'Vigne de l'Hospital' holds a sacred place. The 'Cuvée Prieur Louis Berrier' pays homage to a historical prior of the hospital who dedicated his life to the care of the sick and the preservation of the region's viticultural heritage. Under the meticulous care of Château de Marsannay, these Pinot Noir plots are farmed organically and vinified using traditional Burgundian methods, including aging in fine French oak casks. The resulting wine is a profound expression of the Côte de Nuits, balancing vibrant red berry fruit, earthy forest floor undertones, and a refined, mineral-driven structure that reflects its noble origins.

Château de Marsannay blev opført i 1990 af vinhandleren André Boisseaux og overtaget i 2012 af Olivier Halley, og ejendommen fremstår i dag som Côte de Nuits' nordlige fyrtårn. Domænet råder over cirka 40 hektar vinmarker, hvoraf 28 hektar ligger i Marsannays ypperste climats foruden fremragende parceller i Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée samt Grand Cru-marker som Ruchottes-Chambertin og Clos de Vougeot. Derudover vinficerer slottet de historiske parceller for Hospices de Dijon. Markarbejdet er økologisk certificeret via Ecocert med dedikeret fokus på jordbundens biodiversitet, Poussard-beskæring tilpasset saftstrømmen og naturlig bunddække. Under ledelse af den tekniske direktør Sylvain Pabion tilstræbes en ren og parcellespecifik stil. De håndhøstede druer sorteres minutiøst, gæres med en andel hele klaser ved hjælp af den naturlige gær og lagres efterfølgende på fintporede franske egetræsfade med fokus på en nænsom ekstraktion. Château de Marsannay indtager en særstilling ved at mestre Marsannays karakteristiske treklang af stilarter: rank, struktureret rød Pinot Noir, mineralsk og spændstig Chardonnay samt Pinot Beurot, og kompleks, gastronomisk rosé. Samtidig går slottet forrest i kampen for officiel Premier Cru-status til historiske terroirs som Clos du Roy og Clos de Jeu.
