This unique cuvée represents a remarkable piece of Burgundian history, born from the historic vineyards owned by the Hospital of Dijon (Hôpital de Dijon). For centuries, wealthy patrons donated land to the hospital, creating a prestigious estate of municipal vineyards. In a landmark partnership, Château de Marsannay was entrusted with the stewardship and vinification of these historic parcels, including 'La Plantelle'. Located on the outskirts of Dijon, this terroir features classic argilo-calcaire (clay-limestone) soils that capture the cool-climate elegance of northern Burgundy. The wine is crafted with traditional Burgundian methods, utilizing gentle extraction and aging in French oak casks to produce a red of exceptional purity, vibrant red fruit character, and a subtle earthy complexity that pays homage to the ancient winemaking heritage of the Dukes of Burgundy.
