While Chateau Tanunda is globally famed for its monumental red wines, 'The Chateau' Riesling highlights the cooler, elevated side of South Australia's viticulture, particularly drawing from the pristine, high-altitude vineyards of the Eden Valley. The history of Riesling in this region dates back to the mid-19th century when Silesian settlers planted the first vines, finding the rocky, mineral-rich soils and cool night breezes ideal for preserving acidity. This wine is crafted using modern, temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation to protect the delicate, aromatic profile of the grape. The result is a beautifully focused white wine that balances intense citrus blossom notes with a structural, stony minerality that reflects the ancient soils of its origin.

Chateau Tanunda blev grundlagt i 1890 og står i dag som et ikonisk vartegn i det berømte Barossa Valley i South Australia samt en sand hjørnesten i regionens rige vinhistorie. Den historiske ejendom, opført i karakteristiske blåsten, gennemgik en omhyggelig restaurering efter Geber-familiens overtagelse i 1998 og forener i dag traditionelt håndværk med moderne vinifikation i absolut særklasse. Vingården er dybt forankret i sit historiske terroir og værner om nogle af verdens ældste overlevende vinstokke, hvilket kommer smukt til udtryk i den anmelderroste serie Old Vine Expressions.
