✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the vertigo-inducing, terraced cliffs of the Pündericher Marienburg, the Fahrlay Terrassen Reserve represents the pinnacle of Clemens Busch's biodynamic craftsmanship. The Fahrlay parcel is distinguished by its rare, extremely hard blue slate soil, which imparts a profound, crystalline minerality and a distinctively salty, smoky character to the wine. The Terrassen designation refers to the oldest, lowest-yielding vines perched on ancient, narrow stone terraces that can only be worked entirely by hand. For the Reserve bottling, Clemens Busch allows the wine to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and undergo exceptionally long aging on its gross lees in traditional, large oak Fuder casks—often for up to 24 months or more. This patient, non-interventionist approach coaxes out an extraordinary depth of texture, structural complexity, and a multi-layered aromatic profile that pays homage to the historic winemaking heritage of the Mosel valley.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Located in the picturesque village of Pünderich in the Mosel region of Germany, Weingut Clemens Busch is a pioneering estate globally renowned for redefining Mosel Riesling through biodynamic viticulture. Clemens and Rita Busch took over the family estate in 1984, championing organic methods since 1986 and biodynamics since 2005 as members of Respekt Biodyn. The winery's production is deeply tied to the steep slopes of the Pündericher Marienburg vineyard, where they meticulously isolate parcels based on grey, red, and blue slate soils. Utilizing traditional large oak Fuder casks, spontaneous fermentation, and extended lees contact, they craft exceptionally precise, terroir-driven Rieslings, from bone-dry Grosses Gewächs expressions like Rothenpfad and Falkenlay to exquisitely concentrated noble sweet Auslese wines.
