The Falkenlay parcel is a historic, south-facing amphitheater within the grand Pündericher Marienburg vineyard, perched on steep slopes overlooking the Mosel River. Its name, meaning 'Falcon's Rock,' pays tribute to the falcons that nest in the rugged grey slate cliffs. This highly sheltered microclimate allows the Riesling grapes to achieve exceptional ripeness while maintaining a vibrant spine of acidity. Practicing strict biodynamics, Clemens Busch ferments the juice spontaneously in traditional large oak Fuder casks, allowing for extended lees contact.
