✨ Technical Specifications
The Marienburg Felsterrasse is one of the crown jewels of the Clemens Busch estate, sourced from a tiny, extremely steep, terraced parcel within the grand Pündericher Marienburg vineyard. Here, ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines cling to sheer cliffs of decomposed grey slate. This unique microclimate and soil profile yield a wine of immense concentration and mineral tension. Crafted using biodynamic principles, the grapes are hand-harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation in traditional, large oak Fuder casks, followed by extended contact with the lees. The resulting wine is a masterclass in texture, balancing a rich, almost oily palate with a vibrant, electric acidity and a deeply saline finish. It captures the wild, untamed spirit of the Mosel's steepest slopes, offering a profound expression of place that evolves beautifully over decades.
🍾 About the Producer
Situated in the picturesque village of Pünderich along the dramatic slopes of Germany's Middle Mosel, Weingut Clemens Busch has been led by Clemens and Rita Busch since taking over the historic family estate in the 1980s. Regarded as pioneering trailblazers of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the region, the estate is dedicated to natural, low-intervention winemaking that deeply respects the ecosystem. Their work centers around the legendary, south-facing Pündericher Marienburg hillside, where varying sub-parcels of gray, red, and blue slate are vinified separately to showcase pure terroir expression. Clemens Busch is internationally acclaimed for profound, textured, and mineral-driven dry Rieslings—most notably their Grosses Gewächs expressions like Fahrlay, Falkenlay, and Rothenpfad—alongside exquisite noble sweet and sparkling wines.
