Crafted by the biodynamic pioneers Clemens and Rita Busch, this wine highlights the diverse terroirs of Pünderich in the Middle Mosel. While the estate is world-renowned for its various parcels within the steep Marienburg, they also tend vines in the historic Nonnengarten (‘Nuns' Garden’) vineyard. The name conjures images of medieval monastic grape growing, where quiet contemplation met meticulous agricultural observation. The 'Birnbaum' (pear tree) parcel denotes a specific micro-terroir within this landscape. In keeping with the Busch family's low-intervention philosophy, this Reserve bottling undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and is aged in traditional, large neutral oak Fuder casks. Extended contact with the fine lees imparts a rich, textured mouthfeel and savory complexity, beautifully offsetting the classic Mosel Riesling acidity and intense slate-driven minerality.

Situated in the picturesque village of Pünderich along the dramatic slopes of Germany's Middle Mosel, Weingut Clemens Busch has been led by Clemens and Rita Busch since taking over the historic family estate in the 1980s. Regarded as pioneering trailblazers of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the region, the estate is dedicated to natural, low-intervention winemaking that deeply respects the ecosystem. Their work centers around the legendary, south-facing Pündericher Marienburg hillside, where varying sub-parcels of gray, red, and blue slate are vinified separately to showcase pure terroir expression. Clemens Busch is internationally acclaimed for profound, textured, and mineral-driven dry Rieslings—most notably their Grosses Gewächs expressions like Fahrlay, Falkenlay, and Rothenpfad—alongside exquisite noble sweet and sparkling wines.
