Codorniu is one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the world, with a winemaking heritage dating back to 1551. The ARS Collecta 457 Gran Reserva is the crown jewel of this historic house, named to honor the 457 harvests completed by the estate since its founding. This ultra-premium Cava is a masterful blend of three distinct terroirs and varieties: Pinot Noir from the continental climate of Segria, Chardonnay from the stony soils of Costers del Segre, and Xarel-lo from the classic Mediterranean climate of Penedes. Crafted using the traditional method, this exceptional sparkling wine undergoes an extraordinary aging process on its lees for over 90 months. The result is a Cava of unparalleled complexity, characterized by fine, persistent bubbles, notes of toasted brioche, ripe stone fruit, and a deep, mineral-driven finish that reflects the diverse soils of Catalonia.

Tracing its viticultural origins to 1551 in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Codorníu stands as Spain's oldest documented wine enterprise and the cradle of Cava, catalyzed in 1872 when Josep Raventós Fatjó produced the nation's inaugural traditional-method sparkling wine. The estate is anchored by its modernist cellars, designated a National Artistic Historical Monument, designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. Viticulturally, Codorníu encompasses diverse Catalan terroirs spanning the Mediterranean loam of the Alt Penedès, the continental alluvial terraces of Costers del Segre, and the slate and schist elevations of Conca de Barberà. In 2024, the house completed a transition across all estate vineyards to 100% certified organic farming. Under chief winemaker Bruno Colomer, vinification emphasizes variety-specific cold fermentation and extended lees contact in underground subterranean galleries. Benchmark expressions range from the pioneering Chardonnay-driven Anna de Codorníu to the single-vineyard Gran Reserva cuvées of the Ars Collecta collection, illustrating exceptional tension, crystalline minerality, and autolytic depth.
