✨ Technical Specifications

Codorníu is a titan of Spanish winemaking history, with roots tracing back to 1551. In 1872, Josep Raventós made history by crafting Spain's very first sparkling wine using the traditional method, laying the foundation for the Cava DO. The Codorníu Original Brut is a direct tribute to this historic milestone, utilizing the classic Catalan trio of Macabeo, Xarel-lo, and Parellada. Grown in the sun-drenched vineyards of the Penedès, these grapes are harvested at different times to preserve their natural acidity and aromatic freshness. Following the traditional method, the wine undergoes its second fermentation in the bottle and is aged on its lees in the subterranean cellars of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. The result is a vibrant, crisp sparkling wine characterized by delicate citrus, green apple, and white flower aromas, underpinned by a subtle, creamy toastiness from its lees aging.

🍾 About the Producer

With winemaking roots dating back to 1551, Codorníu is Spain's oldest family-owned enterprise and a founding pillar of the Cava denomination. Located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in the heart of Catalonia's Penedès region, the house made viticultural history in 1872 when Josep Raventós Fatjó crafted Spain's very first traditional-method sparkling wine. Operating from historic modernist cellars designated as a National Historic-Artistic Monument, Codorníu marries centuries-old tradition with continuous innovation, having pioneered the integration of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir alongside indigenous Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada grapes. Renowned worldwide for signature labels like Anna de Codorníu and the prestigious Ars Collecta collection, the estate remains committed to producing elegant, terroir-driven sparkling wines that reflect the rich diversity of northeastern Spain.
