Compass Box Hedonism is a landmark release in the spirits world, first launched in 2000 as the inaugural bottling from Compass Box. It challenged the prevailing Scotch whisky orthodoxy by celebrating blended grain whisky, a category historically relegated to the background of blended Scotch. Crafted from carefully selected, old casks of grain whisky typically sourced from legendary distilleries like Cameronbridge and Port Dundas, and aged in first-fill American oak barrels, Hedonism is celebrated for its lush, creamy texture and seductive notes of vanilla, pastry cream, and coconut. John Glaser's vision was to showcase that grain whisky, when aged in high-quality wood for a significant duration, can achieve a level of elegance and complexity that rivals the finest single malts. This expression remains a testament to the art of blending, offering a soft, sweet, and deeply satisfying profile.
