The creation of Compass Box Magic Cask centers on the discovery of a single, extraordinary cask. In 2016, the blending team acquired a parcel of single malt from the closed Imperial Distillery that had been re-racked into a first-fill Oloroso sherry-seasoned butt. Over the years, this specific cask developed an exceptionally rich, deep, and spiced character of such high quality that the blenders referred to it as 'magic.' To create a harmonious blend, this robust, sherry-forward component was married with a parcel of waxy, fruit-forward single malt from the Clynelish Distillery. This limited release celebrates the art of cask selection and the transformative power of oak, offering a complex profile of dark fruits, baking spices, and a signature waxy texture.
