The Story of the Spaniard is a sumptuous blended malt Scotch whisky born from founder John Glaser's early travels through Spain, where he first fell in love with the rich, oxidative profiles of Sherry wines. This expression is a liquid homage to the profound impact of Spanish wood on Scotch whisky maturation. Compass Box crafts this blend using a high proportion of single malts matured in Sherry casks and Spanish red wine casks, alongside a portion finished in custom toasted French oak casks. The result is a wonderfully decadent, fruit-forward, and spicy dram that showcases notes of red pears, orange peel, and rich baking spices, embodying the creative blending philosophy that defines the house.
