The expression is named after the 15th-century painting 'Tobias and the Angel' from the workshop of Andrea del Verrocchio, which famously features details painted by a young Leonardo da Vinci. This masterpiece of blending represents a dramatic, artistic synergy between two iconic Scottish distilleries. It marries an exceptionally mature, peat-heavy single malt from Caol Ila on Islay (representing the ethereal, protective Angel) with a younger, vibrant, and characteristically waxy single malt from Clynelish in the Highlands (representing Tobias).
