Asyla was crafted by Compass Box as the ultimate expression of delicacy and refinement in Scotch whisky, taking its name from the plural of 'asylum' to evoke a sense of sanctuary and quiet comfort. Designed specifically as a light, welcoming aperitif, this blend beautifully combined elegant Speyside single malts—primarily Linkwood and Glen Elgin—with sweet, soft grain whiskies from Cameronbridge. Every component was matured in first-fill American oak casks, imparting gentle vanilla, crisp pear, and soft herbal notes. Though retired in 2018, Asyla remains celebrated among spirits enthusiasts as a masterclass in the art of blending, proving that Scotch does not need to be heavily peated or intensely sherried to be profoundly beautiful.
