The Peat Monster Arcana is a captivating limited-edition release from the avant-garde blending house Compass Box, created to celebrate their 20th anniversary. This expression represents a bold experiment in wood management and maturation: a parcel of the classic Peat Monster blend was intentionally left to age for an additional two years in custom-toasted French oak casks—a technique typically reserved for unpeated whiskies. This 'secret' experiment yielded a remarkably complex spirit where the fierce, medicinal peat smoke of Islay is beautifully tempered and enriched by the sweet, spicy, and waxy notes of French oak. Combined with mature single malts from legendary distilleries like Talisker, Miltonduff, and Ardbeg, Arcana offers a brilliant, multi-layered narrative of smoke, spice, and oak, redefining what a peated Scotch can be.

Established in 2000 by visionary blender John Glaser, Compass Box is an independent boutique Scotch whiskymaking house dedicated to reimagining the traditions of blending. Operating out of its blending studio in Richmond, London, with warehouse maturation bases in Scotland, the firm approaches Scotch with the exacting philosophy of an artisan winemaker.
