While typical blended Scotches can contain dozens of different malt and grain whiskies, Compass Box founder John Glaser set out to discover the absolute minimum required to create a beautiful, complete blend. The answer was simple: one single malt and one single grain. By combining a single malt (which provides rich, fruity, and ester-forward character) with a single grain whisky (which contributes a creamy, sweet, and structural vanilla backbone), Compass Box created an incredibly pure, elegant expression. Typically matured in first-fill bourbon casks and recharred American oak, this spirit showcases the profound synergy between malted barley and grain, demonstrating that clarity and restraint can yield extraordinary depth.
