To recreate this classic style, Compass Box crafts this blend with a remarkably high single malt content. The blend brings together smoky Islay single malt, rich Highland single malt aged in first-fill Sherry casks, and a touch of Lowland grain whisky for sweetness and balance. This expression is finished in custom toasted French oak casks, adding a layer of baking spice complexity. It represents a modern renaissance of the blended Scotch art form, prioritizing flavor and transparency over industrial efficiency.

Established in 2000 by visionary blender John Glaser, Compass Box is an independent boutique Scotch whiskymaking house dedicated to reimagining the traditions of blending. Operating out of its blending studio in Richmond, London, with warehouse maturation bases in Scotland, the firm approaches Scotch with the exacting philosophy of an artisan winemaker. Rather than relying on standard industrial recipes, Compass Box sources premier malt and grain distillates across Scotland, aging them in bespoke cooperage using toasted virgin French and American oak to highlight distinct structural and aromatic elements.
