The history of Casillero del Diablo, or 'Devil's Cellar', is rooted in a late nineteenth-century legend created by winery founder Don Melchor de Santiago Concha y Toro. To prevent thefts from his private reserve collection stored in the Pirque cellars, Don Melchor spread the rumor that the devil guarded the dark underground vaults. Sourced from vineyards across Chile's Central Valley, where warm sunny days are balanced by cool breezes from the Andes and the Pacific, this classic reserve red expression is aged in oak barrels to offer balanced tannins along with rich flavors of dark fruits, subtle vanilla, and gentle toasted spice.
