Concha y Toro's Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon represents a focused exploration of Chile's river-influenced terroirs within the expansive Central Valley. Sourced primarily from select vineyards planted along the banks of major river systems—such as the Tinguiririca River in Colchagua—this wine benefits from the cooling breezes that sweep down from the Andes and up from the Pacific, moderating the warm valley climate. This unique microclimate allows the grapes to ripen slowly, preserving vibrant acidity and developing intense, concentrated fruit flavors. Historically, the estate has championed the concept of river-bank viticulture, highlighting how proximity to watercourses shapes the tannic structure and aromatic complexity of classic Bordeaux varietals in Chile. The wine is traditionally aged in French and American oak barrels, yielding a structured, elegant red with notes of black currant, plum, chocolate, and subtle toasted oak.

Viña Concha y Toro blev grundlagt i 1883 af Don Melchor de Concha y Toro og hans hustru Emiliana Subercaseaux. Vinhuset er i dag Chiles mest fremtrædende producent og en absolut hjørnesten i sydamerikansk vinhistorie. Hovedsædet ligger i Pirque i den historiske Maipo Valley, og ejendommens fundament blev lagt med ædle franske vinstokke hentet direkte fra Bordeaux. Siden har porteføljen bredt sig til Chiles bedste dale, lige fra Limarí til Peumo.
