✨ Technical Specifications

Concha y Toro's Gran Reserva Carmenere showcases Chile's signature grape, which was famously rediscovered in the country's vineyards in 1994 by French ampelographer Jean-Michel Boursiquot after being mistaken for Merlot for over a century. Sourced from prime vineyards in the Central Valley, particularly near riverbanks where cool breezes moderate the warm daytime temperatures, this wine benefits from slow ripening that preserves its vibrant acidity and characteristic herbal complexity. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels, which softens its plush tannins and integrates notes of dark plum, cocoa, and black pepper with a touch of sweet spice.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1883 by Don Melchor de Concha y Toro and his wife Emiliana Subercaseaux, Viña Concha y Toro is Chile's preeminent wine producer and a cornerstone of South American winemaking history. Headquartered in Pirque within the historic Maipo Valley, the estate originated with noble French cuttings sourced directly from Bordeaux, laying the groundwork for a portfolio that now spans Chile's finest valleys from Limarí to Peumo. Concha y Toro pairs cutting-edge viticultural science with meticulous stewardship, crafting wines that reflect the diverse microclimates and soils of the Central Valley, Aconcagua, and southern regions. The winery is universally celebrated for benchmark red varietals—most notably expressive Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère—exemplified in prestige cuvées such as Carmín de Peumo, the Terrunyo series, and the enduring Marques de Casa Concha label.
