The Marques de Casa Concha label was launched in 1976 as a tribute to the hereditary title granted to the winery's founder, Melchor de Concha y Toro, by King Philip V of Spain in 1718. This Merlot represents an elegant, classic expression of the variety grown in the Central Valley, primarily sourced from the San Clemente vineyard in the Maule Valley. Here, the vines thrive in clay-loam soils and benefit from the cooling breezes of the Maule River, which preserve the grape's natural acidity and bright red fruit character. The wine is traditionally aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, resulting in a complex profile of dark plums, black cherries, delicate herbal undertones, and a touch of sweet spice.
