✨ Technical Specifications

Hailing from the prestigious Peumo Vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley, a sub-region of Chile's Central Valley, Terrunyo Carmenere represents a landmark in the modern history of Chilean wine. Carmenere, once thought extinct in Europe after the phylloxera epidemic, was famously rediscovered in Chile in 1994 after being mistaken for Merlot for decades. The Terrunyo bottling, sourced from select blocks of the historic Peumo estate, showcases the grape's true potential. The vineyard's deep, clay-retentive soils and warm climate, tempered by evening breezes from the Cachapoal River, allow the late-ripening Carmenere to mature slowly, shedding its aggressive green notes while retaining vibrant acidity and soft, velvety tannins. Aged in French oak barrels, this wine is celebrated for its complex profile of dark berries, sweet spices, graphite, and subtle herbal undertones.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1883 by Don Melchor de Concha y Toro and his wife Emiliana Subercaseaux, Viña Concha y Toro is Chile's preeminent wine producer and a cornerstone of South American winemaking history. Headquartered in Pirque within the historic Maipo Valley, the estate originated with noble French cuttings sourced directly from Bordeaux, laying the groundwork for a portfolio that now spans Chile's finest valleys from Limarí to Peumo. Concha y Toro pairs cutting-edge viticultural science with meticulous stewardship, crafting wines that reflect the diverse microclimates and soils of the Central Valley, Aconcagua, and southern regions. The winery is universally celebrated for benchmark red varietals—most notably expressive Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère—exemplified in prestige cuvées such as Carmín de Peumo, the Terrunyo series, and the enduring Marques de Casa Concha label.
