Terrunyo Carmenere is a landmark Chilean wine that helped redefine the global perception of the Carmenere grape. Sourced primarily from the historic Block 27 of the Peumo Vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley, this wine benefits from deep, clay-rich soils and a microclimate moderated by the Cachapoal River. The history of Carmenere in Chile is legendary: long mistaken for Merlot, it was officially identified in 1994 by French ampelographer Jean-Michel Boursiquot, having survived in Chile after being wiped out in Europe by phylloxera. Terrunyo, which translates to 'terroir,' represents a dedicated selection of the estate's finest parcels. The wine is typically aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months, yielding a complex profile of dark plums, black pepper, roasted red pepper, and graphite, supported by velvety tannins.
