This distinctive profile is primarily a result of the distillery's persistent use of traditional copper worm tubs to condense its spirit. By reducing copper contact during condensation, the spirit retains a savory, slightly sulfurous, and robust quality. When matured in a single bourbon barrel, such as Cask No 800578, this heavy spirit is allowed to develop without the dominant influence of sherry wood. The ex-bourbon oak coaxes out sweet vanilla, coconut, and soft baking spices, which beautifully balance Craigellachie's signature notes of charred pineapple, oiliness, and flinty smoke. Single cask bottlings represent the purest expression of this Speyside rebel, offering a snapshot of a single cask's unique journey.

Craigellachie Distillery blev grundlagt i 1891 af Alexander Edward og den legendariske whiskypioner Peter Mackie.
