Craigellachie is often celebrated as the defiant rebel of Speyside, standing firm against modern trends since its founding in 1891 by Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie. The distillery's signature heavy, sulfurous, and muscular character is a direct result of their continued use of traditional copper worm tubs for condensation, which limits copper contact and preserves a robust, meaty spirit. When this powerful distillate is matured in a Pedro Ximenez (PX) Sherry Hogshead, a spectacular sensory contrast is born. The intense, syrupy sweetness of the PX cask—characterized by rich notes of dark figs, raisins, and molasses—wraps around Craigellachie's savory, waxy, and slightly smoky core, resulting in a single malt of extraordinary depth and dramatic complexity.

Craigellachie Distillery blev grundlagt i 1891 af Alexander Edward og den legendariske whiskypioner Peter Mackie.
