Craigellachie is famous for its stubborn adherence to traditional whisky-making methods, most notably its use of copper worm tubs. These old-school condensing coils, cooled in cold water tanks, limit copper contact during condensation. This intentional design leaves a heavy, sulfurous, and meaty character in the spirit, earning Craigellachie the reputation of being the defiant voice of Speyside. When matured in a refill bourbon cask like Cask No 90003555, the wood's influence is gentle and subtle. Instead of being dominated by heavy oak or sherry spices, the distillery's true DNA is allowed to take center stage. The result is a fascinating interplay of robust, muscular maltiness, tropical fruit notes like grilled pineapple, and a distinctive waxy, flinty complexity that pays homage to the historic Speyside style of the late 19th century.

Craigellachie Distillery blev grundlagt i 1891 af Alexander Edward og den legendariske whiskypioner Peter Mackie.
