Established in 1891, Craigellachie relies on traditional copper worm tubs—cold-water tanks containing coiled copper pipes—to condense its spirit. This process limits copper contact, leaving a heavy, sulfurous, and muscular character that takes decades to soften. The 31 Year Old, crowned the World's Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards in 2017, is a masterclass in patience. Over three decades of maturation, the spirit's aggressive, meaty notes have transformed into an incredibly complex tapestry of charred pineapple, beeswax, savory smoke, and exotic spices, all while retaining the distillery's signature robust backbone.
