✨ wine.spec_sheet

CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) was founded in 1879 in the legendary Barrio de la Estación of Haro, Rioja. The 'Cune' brand itself was born from an accidental typographical error, where the company's acronym 'CVNE' was printed as 'Cune' on an early label—a mistake that quickly became an iconic household name. Cune Blanco represents the fresh, vibrant side of Rioja's white winemaking heritage. Crafted primarily from the indigenous Viura (Macabeo) grape, the fruit is sourced from vineyards in Rioja Alta where clay-limestone soils and a cool, Atlantic-influenced climate preserve natural acidity. Unlike the heavily oaked white Riojas of old, Cune Blanco is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to emphasize its crisp, floral, and citrus-forward character, offering a pure expression of the Viura grape's youthful energy.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1879 by the Real de Asúa brothers in the historic Barrio de la Estación of Haro, Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) is a cornerstone of Rioja winemaking. Still family-controlled today, the estate is celebrated for its harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and architectural innovation, featuring a legendary cellar designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel's studio. CVNE's philosophy centers on meticulous vineyard management across Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, producing elegant, structurally complex wines aged in fine oak casks. The winery is globally renowned for its iconic labels, including the historic Imperial Gran Reserva, the fruit-forward Viña Real, and the single-estate expression Contino, which collectively define the pinnacle of classic Spanish Tempranillo.
