Hailing from the cooler, sandy slopes of the Blewitt Springs sub-region in McLaren Vale, d'Arenberg's 'The Bamboo Scrub' Shiraz is a remarkable single-vineyard expression. The wine's name pays homage to the resilient native vegetation, resembling wild bamboo or bracken, that originally covered these ancient, nutrient-poor sandy soils before they were cleared for viticulture. True to d'Arenberg's century-old traditions, the grapes are gently crushed in open-top fermenters, foot-trodden, and basket-pressed. This hands-on, low-intervention approach coaxes out a highly aromatic, structured, and complex Shiraz, showcasing the distinctive Blewitt Springs terroir with its signature lifted floral notes, dark blue fruits, and fine, gritty tannins.
