Named after the notorious vine disease Eutypa lata, which slowly kills one arm of a grapevine, d'Arenberg's flagship 'The Dead Arm' Shiraz is born from tragedy turned triumph. The surviving arm of these ancient, afflicted vines produces tiny yields of incredibly concentrated, intense, and flavorful grapes. Sourced from old-growth vineyards in the ironstone-rich soils of McLaren Vale, this iconic Australian Shiraz is crafted using traditional methods, including foot-treading and gentle basket pressing. The wine is aged in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barriques, resulting in a muscular, deeply complex red characterized by dark brambly fruit, earthy undertones, savory spice, and structural tannins that allow it to evolve beautifully over decades.
