Hailing from the sun-drenched slopes of McLaren Vale, South Australia, d'Arenberg's Old Vine Shiraz is a testament to the region's ancient soils and the winery's time-honored traditions. Sourced from venerable, low-yielding vines that have dug their roots deep into the diverse soils of the Vale, this wine captures the intense concentration and complexity that only age can bestow. In the cellar, winemaker Chester Osborn maintains the family's legendary hands-on approach: grapes are gently crushed in vintage basket presses and foot-trodden in open fermenters, a physical labor of love that coaxes out rich, velvety tannins and deep fruit character. The wine is then matured in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barriques, resulting in a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz that balances bold dark fruit, earthy spices, and a touch of rustic charm.

d'Arenberg blev grundlagt i 1912 af Joseph Osborn og har siden udviklet sig til en af McLaren Vales mest ikoniske og traditionsrige familieejede vingårde i South Australia. Under ledelse af fjerdegenerations-vinmageren Chester Osborn arbejder vinhuset kompromisløst efter bæredygtige og traditionelle metoder, herunder certificeret økologisk og biodynamisk vindyrkning, fodtrædning af druerne samt kurvepresning. Vingården er berømt for sine finurlige vinenavne og den karakteristiske røde stribe på etiketten, og porteføljen spænder over en bred vifte af udtryksfulde vine med særligt fokus på Rhône-sorter, gamle Grenache-stokke og kraftfuld Shiraz.
