✨ Technical Specifications

Part of d'Arenberg's acclaimed 'Amazing Sites' single-vineyard series, Tyche's Mustard Shiraz is a terroir-driven expression from a specific site in the Willunga sub-region of McLaren Vale. Planted in 1997 on heavy clay soils over limestone, the vineyard is named in honor of Tyche, the Greek goddess of fortune, combined with a nod to the wild mustard plants that blanket the neighboring fields in winter. Winemaker Chester Osborn utilizes traditional, hands-on methods to craft this wine, including gentle foot-treading in open fermenters and basket pressing before aging in a mix of new and older French and American oak barriques. The result is a powerful, complex Shiraz that beautifully balances rich dark fruit with savory spice, earth, and a distinct mineral edge.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, d'Arenberg has grown into one of McLaren Vale's most iconic and storied family-owned estates in South Australia. Under the visionary stewardship of fourth-generation winemaker Chester Osborn, the winery adheres strictly to traditional, sustainable methods, utilizing certified organic and biodynamic viticulture along with foot-treading and basket pressing. Renowned for its eclectic naming conventions and distinctive red-stripe label, the estate crafts a wide spectrum of expressive wines with a particular mastery of RhΓ΄ne varieties, old-vine Grenache, and robust Shiraz. Signature bottlings such as 'The Dead Arm Shiraz' and 'The Ironstone Pressings' stand as benchmarks of regional depth, complexity, and age-worthy character.
